Glaucoma Screening programme
A glaucoma screening camp was conducted at the Navy Hospital, Welisara, Colombo, for personnel of the Sri Lanka Tri-Forces (Navy, Army, and Air Force) and their family members.
During the screening programme, intraocular pressure was measured, fundus examinations were performed, and fundus photographs were taken for individuals suspected of having glaucoma.
The programme also highlighted the importance of regular eye check-ups for the early detection of glaucoma, as it can cause irreversible blindness if left untreated. However, blindness due to glaucoma is largely preventable with early diagnosis and proper treatment. Participants were also educated on the causes and risk factors of glaucoma and the importance of timely screening.
