Social Media Campaign – Glaucoma Week Awareness
The Association Medicinska mreža is organizing a Social Media Awareness Campaign as part of Glaucoma Week, now in its fourth consecutive year.
The core activity of the campaign is the use of a visual filter that simulates glaucoma-related vision loss, particularly peripheral field loss and tubular vision. Each year, we actively involve medical professionals, public figures, influencers, and content creators, who publish a photo or story using this filter on their social media profiles, accompanied by educational messages about glaucoma.
Through this approach, we achieve a reach of over 1 million people annually, significantly increasing public awareness of the silent and irreversible nature of vision loss caused by glaucoma.
In addition to the filter-based posts, during Glaucoma Week we publish daily educational content explaining:
the main characteristics of glaucoma
risk factors and the importance of early detection
the role of regular ophthalmological examinations
the consequences of untreated disease
The campaign is designed to translate complex medical information into clear, emotionally impactful visual messages, making glaucoma understandable to the general public and motivating individuals to seek preventive eye examinations.
This long-term, continuously growing activity has proven to be an effective tool for public health education, early disease awareness, and community engagement.
