The Glaucoma Awareness Cyclothon 2026, organized by Precise Speciality Eye Care, was successfully conducted on 15th March 2026 bringing together cyclists, healthcare professionals, dignitaries, and health enthusiasts for a meaningful cause.
The event started with an energetic Zumba warm-up session, setting the perfect tone for the day and energizing everyone for the ride ahead.

The program officially commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. Jayaram V R, Chairman of Precise Speciality Eye Care, who emphasized the importance of early detection and awareness about glaucoma, often referred to as the “Silent Thief of Sight.”

The Inaugural Address was delivered by Smt. Anu Kumari IAS, District Collector of Thiruvananthapuram, who highlighted the significance of public awareness initiatives and appreciated the efforts taken to educate the community about eye health.

The event was further honoured by the presence of distinguished dignitaries including:

* Dr. Mini Mathew, Scientific Committee Member, KSOS
* Dr. Anitha Prabhakaran, Scientific Committee Chairman, TOC

A special Glaucoma Awareness Talk was delivered by Dr. Kiran Gopalakrishnan, Head of Department & Senior Consultant in Glaucoma and Cornea, who provided valuable insights on glaucoma prevention, early detection, and the importance of regular eye check-ups.

Participants also took the Glaucoma Awareness Oath, led by Sri P. N. Ranjith Kumar, reinforcing the commitment to spreading awareness and protecting vision within the community.

The Cyclothon Flag Off was proudly initiated by Smt. Anu Kumari IAS, as cyclists rode from Kanakakunnu to Shangumugham, symbolizing unity and collective effort in the fight against glaucoma.

The event concluded on a high note with the distribution of medals to all participating cyclists. This was followed by the announcement of the Lucky Dip winners, where two fortunate participants were awarded branded bicycles, adding excitement and joy to the closing moments of the Cyclothon.

The cyclothon successfully delivered a powerful message: Glaucoma has no early symptoms.Regular eye check-ups can save vision.
