From Quito, at the Middle of the World, Latin America joins World Glaucoma Week, a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association, to remind the public that glaucoma awareness can save sight.
As part of this international campaign, the Latin American Glaucoma Society organized a public awareness activation at the Quito Metro, bringing information about glaucoma directly to the community for the second consecutive year.
During this activity, ophthalmology residents, glaucoma fellows, physicians, and healthcare personnel actively participated by providing educational information to the public about glaucoma, its risk factors, and the importance of early detection.
At the same time, across Latin America, physicians, communities, and institutions are joining forces to raise awareness of this silent condition, which can affect vision without symptoms in its early stages. Numerous initiatives are being carried out throughout the region, including free screening campaigns, patient education conferences, marathons, theater performances, and concerts, all aimed at increasing public awareness about glaucoma.
Glaucoma does not warn you. Awareness can save sight.
Latin America united for a world free from blindness caused by glaucoma.
