The Department of Ophthalmology, JIPMER, Puducherry, organized a Glaucoma Walkathon on World Glaucoma Day, March 8th, to raise awareness about glaucoma, a silent disease that can cause blindness if left untreated.
The walkathon began at 7:30 AM from the JIPMER Main Entrance and proceeded towards Muruga Theatre, returning via Vazhudavour Road and Kadhirkamam. The event was flagged off by Medical Superintendent, Prof Saka Vinod Kumar. The residents , optometry students, faculty and nursing staff of JIPMER participated in the event.
The initiative aimed to educate the public about the importance of early detection and regular eye check-ups to prevent vision loss from glaucoma.
