On the occasion of Glaucoma Awareness Week, the Department of Shalakyatantra at MES Ayurved Mahavidyalaya organized a guest lecture on 13/03/2026 to create awareness about glaucoma among undergraduate students and faculty members. The program was held in the Multipurpose Hall of MES Ayurved Mahavidyalaya from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

The guest speaker for the session was Dr. Mayuresh Kulkarni, Consulting Ophthalmic Surgeon from Kulkarni Eye Care and Phaco Centre, Pen. The program was anchored by Final year student Ms. Ananya Panchal and Ms. Sejal Mhatre

The program commenced with the arrival of the guest at 3:10 PM. The dignitaries present on the stage included Principal Dr. Sachin Utpat, Head of the Department of Shalakyatantra Dr. Dattatraya Yalagi, and Associate Professor Dr. Nikhil Mali. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed, and Dr. Mayuresh Kulkarni was formally introduced to the audience.

Dr. Mayuresh Kulkarni then delivered an informative lecture on glaucoma, focusing on its causes, risk factors, early diagnosis, and management. He explained the topic in a very simple and clear manner, which helped the students easily understand the importance of early detection and regular eye examinations. His lecture highlighted glaucoma as a major cause of preventable blindness and emphasized the need for awareness among the general population.

After the lecture, an interactive question-and-answer session was conducted, during which Dr. Kulkarni patiently clarified the doubts of students and faculty members.

At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Nikhil Mali expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mayuresh Kulkarni for delivering such an informative and valuable lecture. As a token of appreciation, Dr. Dattatraya Yalagi honored Dr. Kulkarni by presenting him with a certificate of appreciation.

The program concluded successfully, leaving the participants with enhanced knowledge and awareness about glaucoma.
