DESCRIPTION:WORLD GLAUCOMA WEEK ACTIVITIES (MARCH 12-18\, 2017)\nIN MYANMAR
 \nGlaucoma screening\, public health talk and survey on knowledge of glauc
 oma were done in 5 hospitals in Yangon\, Mandalay and Magway during World 
 Glaucoma Week.\n\n1. Glaucoma screening:\n2300 new patients attending the 
 out-patient departments of the above hospitals were screened for glaucoma 
 with regards to optic disc and intraocular pressure.\n\n2. Survey on knowl
 edge of glaucoma:\nNew patients attending the out-patient departments were
  interviewed and 955 patients participated. About 50% knew that people ove
 r age 40 are more likely to get glaucoma causing irreversible vision loss 
 if intraocular pressure is not well controlled promptly. 75% knew that alt
 hough glaucoma could not be cured\, it could be controlled by eyedrops\, l
 aser or surgery.
