SUMMARY:Glaucoma screening Event
DESCRIPTION:Within the World Glaucoma Week\, ASL Roma 1 and AIMO have organ
ized a screening day for the early detection of Glaucoma. The appointment
is for March 12 from 8.45 to 12.30 at the Ophthalmic Hospital of Rome.\n\n
Glaucoma is the second most common cause of blindness in the world. It is
a pathology mostly related to an increase in eye pressure that causes prog
ressive damage of the optic nerve that carries visual information to the b
rain. If not treated\, most types of glaucoma can progress (without warnin
gs or obvious symptoms to the patient) with a worsening of vision and in s
evere cases can lead to blindness.\n\nEarly diagnosis is essential to limi
t visual impairment and to prevent progression to severe visual impairment
s or even to blindness and can be performed by measuring eye pressure and
 optic nerve observation.
