 CAMPAIGN\n\nIt is well known that glaucoma is a disease that should be tre
 ated for the rest of \nlife\, so choosing the right type of treatment is a
 n important decision and a great \nresponsibility that affects not only th
 e quality of life of the patient but also the quality \nof life of his fam
 ily and social environment.\nThe decision to treat glaucoma is not an easy
  one\, because it opens up a number \nof questions and it is a great chall
 enge in our daily work. What do we need to know \nbefore making the decisi
 on about the treatment and type of therapy for each patient? \nHow to asse
 ss the effectiveness of the type of treatment for each patient? What \nare
  the differences among medications and which mechanisms of action are hidd
 en \nin there? When is the laser not effective and why? Why is not a surgi
 cal treatment \nalways a long lasting solution and why is it important to 
 know the principles of \nsurgical techniques? Identical therapy is effecti
 ve among some patients\, while not \namong others - why? \nThese are just 
 some of the issues which will be covered in lectures and which we will \nd
 iscuss together this year\, hopefully in person\, in larger number as poss
 ible.
