DESCRIPTION:Events at Salisbury District Hospital to promote World Glaucoma
  Week\n(12-18 March 2023)\n\n• Poster displays and leaflets in the Eye C
 linic + Springs restaurant.\n\nWe would like to thank The Stars Appeal at 
 Salisbury District Hospital for generously printing colour materials for o
 ur poster displays.\n\n• Eye Clinic staff will be available periodically
  in Springs restaurant to give Hospital colleagues and members of the publ
 ic an opportunity to measure their eye pressures using a machine called an
  ORA (Ocular Response Analyser). This device releases 3 puffs of air onto 
 each eye to measure interocular pressure.\n\n• Glaucoma Support Group on
  the 29/03/2023 (10.30-12.30)\nFunction Room at Odstock Health &amp\; Fitn
 ess Centre.\nConsultant Lead for Glaucoma\, Mrs Karinya Lewis\, will be sp
 eaking about Visual Field Tests and a new Glaucoma app for smartphone user
 s. These support groups are designed to give patients and their families t
 he opportunity to meet with others to discuss tips and strategies for livi

 ontact details.\n\nWhat is Glaucoma?\nGlaucoma is an asymptomatic disease 
 in the early stages so 1-2 yearly eye checks at the opticians is important
  for early detection.\nPeople who have an immediate relative with glaucoma
  are eligible in the UK for free eye checks for glaucoma after the age of 
 40 years.\nThere is no cure for glaucoma\, but the effects of this eye con
 dition can be slowed down to preserve your vision.\nTreatment options incl
 ude eye drops\, laser and surgery.\nIf using eye drops\, they must go in e
 veryday to be effective.\nIf you suffer with eye problems then there are s
 everal organisations who will be able to assist including opticians\, and
